How to Relieve Tooth Pain
February 4, 2022 7:57 pmIt can be dull, it can be sharp, it can be persistent, it can be sporadic…it’s tooth pain! In reality, tooth pain is no joking matter. Aside from the fact that it can cause serious discomfort and become a major distraction in your day, it can also signal more health problems to come. If you’re currently experiencing some tooth pain, here are some things you can try to find relief:
Try a Saltwater Rinse
You may be surprised at how something as simple as a saltwater rinse can help alleviate tooth pain. This is because the mixture can dislodge debris and reduce inflammation. To make a saltwater rinse at home, mix about ½ teaspoon of salt into a glass of warm water.
Use a Cold Compress
Another easy home remedy you can try is a cold compress. You may have a medical ice pack at home you can use, or a bag of plain ice or frozen vegetables works too. Wrap it in a towel and then hold it to the side of your face where you feel the tooth pain for 20 minutes at a time.
Take Over-the-Counter Pain Medication
Over-the-counter pain medications like Advil, Aleve, and Tylenol may help with your tooth pain since they’re designed to reduce pain and inflammation. When taking these medications, make sure to follow the instructions on the package, or consult your doctor if you have any questions.
